Smartsoil GXL is a farm management app. This page explains, in plain English, what data the app handles and why. The short version: your farm data is yours, it lives in Australia, we don't sell it, and we collect nothing we don't need to run the app.

What we collect

  • Account details — your email address and name, used to sign you in and identify you to your farm team.
  • Farm records — the data you enter to run your farm: paddocks, mobs, livestock records, treatments, tasks, movements, and similar. This is the product; we store it so you and your team can use it.
  • Location — used only while the app is open, to show where you are on your farm map. We do not track your location in the background and we do not build a history of your movements.
  • Crash and error reports — if the app crashes or a sync fails, technical diagnostics (device model, OS version, what went wrong) are sent to our error-monitoring service so we can fix it. "Report to Smartsoil" sends the same kind of report at your request.
  • Voice — when you use the voice assistant, your audio is streamed to our voice provider for the duration of the session so the assistant can hear and answer you. Commands you confirm become ordinary farm records. Your audio is not used to train AI models.

Where your data lives

Your farm data is stored in Australia (Sydney) with our database provider, Supabase. The app also keeps an offline copy on your device so it works without reception; that copy syncs back when you're online. All data moves over encrypted connections (TLS), and access is controlled per farm and per role.

Services we rely on

We use a small number of service providers to run the app, each only for the purpose named: Supabase (database and sign-in), PowerSync (offline sync), Mapbox (maps), Sentry (crash reporting), ElevenLabs (voice assistant audio), and Vercel (hosting this website, with basic page analytics). None of them may use your data for their own purposes.

What we don't do

  • We do not sell your data, ever.
  • We show no ads and do no advertising tracking.
  • We do not track you across other apps or websites.
  • We do not share your farm data with anyone outside your farm team, unless you ask us to or the law requires it.

Your team

Farm data is shared with the people you invite to your farm, according to the role you give them (owner, manager, employee, or contractor). Whoever owns the farm controls who is on it.

Deleting your data

You can delete your account from inside the app (More → Delete Account). If you own a farm with other team members, the app will guide you rather than silently wiping shared records — contact us and we'll help. You can also ask us to delete your data at any time.
